Professor William Foley BA, MA, PhD, FAHA

William Foley is Professor of Linguistics at the University of Sydney. He is the author of four books and scores of book chapters and international journal articles. He has lectured in countries around the world, on five continents. His research speciality is the study of meaning and grammar and how these may express different worldviews across different languages. In studying this, he has focussed mainly on the cultures and languages of small village and tribal communities in New Guinea, and over the years he has lived among these for many months at a time. All of this has convinced him that all of humanity is equal and really only one people, irrespective of cultural and racial distinctions. While there are differences amongst us, they are small and pale into insignificance in view of all that unites us.
